Pri-Med Workshop - Medicines Management 2009 and Beyond, London

Pri-Med Educational Programmes were delighted to launch the first Pri-Med Workshop: Medicines Management in 2009 and Beyond in London. The event invited over 50 Prescribing Advisors and Practice Support Pharmacists to the one-day event which debated the latest changes in policy, national guidance within chronic disease as well as focusing on key skills such as influencing and critical appraisal.The meeting was chaired by Jonathan Mason, National Clinical Director Primary Care and Community Pharmacy, Department of Health, and Head of Prescribing and Pharmacy, NHS City and Hackney and Co-Chaired by Shailen Rao, Soar Beyond Consultancy. Delegates in attendance were treated to over 5 educational sessions, including:
- Effectiveness vs Cost – The tipping point, presented by Dr Julian Sheather, Senior Ethics Adviser, The British Medical Association and Andrew Riley, Head of Medicines Management, Stoke-on-Trent Primary Care Trust
- Influencing Skills presented by Miriam George, Managing Director, PDC Healthcare
- WORKSHOP A presented by Omar Ali, Formulary Development Pharmacist, Surrey & Sussex NHS Trust and Fiona Bhandari, Pharmacist Consultant, PDC Healthcare
- WORKSHOP B presented by Reema Caddies, Pharmacist Consultant, PDC Healthcare and Miriam George, Managing Director, PDC Healthcare
- Current Challenges in Prescribing presented by Omar Ali
- Seminar 1: Tackling the Diabetes Issue and Service Re-Design presented by Craig Davidson
- Seminar 2: Managed Entry presented by Paul Jerram and Omar Ali
