| Qualified with a hospital pharmacy background and currently working as the Formulary Advisor to Surrey & Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust, Omar currently leads the regional Joint Drugs & Therapeutics Committee and sits on both the PCT Area Prescribing Committee as well as the PCT Medicines Management Steering Group. Omar is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Portsmouth PGDip/MSc Pharmacy Programme and last year became both Lecturer & Examiner on the Non-Medical Prescribing V300 Course at the University of Surrey. He has over 27 publications to date (prescribing management within various chronic diseases & health economics)and has authored 2 booklets on implementation of NICE Guidance & TAG documents. He has spoken at various Medical Conferences within the UK, Europe and occasionally further a field and has been appointed to the NHS Advisory Board for Pharmaceutical Field Magazine. Having been an executive board member for the National Obesity Forum, Omar is now a council member for the charity PCOS. He is an Editorial Content Adviser to Guidelines (national publication for NHS Medicines Management Teams) and also sits on the CPPE Advisory Board. Most recently, Omar has just been appointed a position on the External Reference Committee for Cost Impact Modelling for NICE. | |

| Jonathan has worked in hospital pharmacy; laboratory-based research into drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics; academia; regulation (at the Medicines Control Agency); and running a busy village pharmacy. Since 1998, Jonathan has worked in primary care pharmacy, first as a prescribing support pharmacist in East Kent, then as prescribing adviser with Canterbury and Coastal PCG/T. Since 2003, Jonathan has been Head of Prescribing and Pharmacy at City and Hackney Teaching PCT. He leads and manages a team of pharmacists and technicians supporting prescribing and medicines management. He also has wider primary care commissioning responsibilities, for example he leads the anticoagulation monitoring enhanced service. Jonathan is also Flu Coordinator and Accountable Officer for Controlled Drugs. In December 2008, Jonathan was appointed National Clinical Director for Primary Care and Community Pharmacy at the Department of Health. Jonathan works half-time for the Department of Health on secondment, and continues with his responsibilities as Head of Prescribing and Pharmacy at City and Hackney. | |

| Andrew Riley has been Head of Medicines Management, Stoke-on-Trent Primary Care Trust since 2004, and Current responsibilities include strategic lead on primary care prescribing (£50M drugs budget), medicines management, lead on NICE implementation (£2M reserve), Accountable Officer for controlled drugs and lead for pharmacy development. Dr Julian Sheather (PhD) is ethics manager at the British Medical Association. His particular interests lie in mental health and mental capacity, in consent and capacity issues in relation to children and young people and in public health ethics. He is the BMA's policy lead on child protection and on health and human rights. Julian has worked in the BMA Ethics Department for seven years following a spell as a researcher in international health policy for the BMA's International Department. He is a co-author of Medical Ethics Today, the BMA's handbook on medical ethics and medical law, and is a regular contributor to the British Medical Journal and The Journal of Medical Ethics. He sits on the British Medical Journal’s ethics committee, the Institute of Medical Ethics and is on the advisory board of BIOS at the LSE. He lectures widely both nationally and internationally on a range of topics in medical ethics. |
